Week 1: January 25-29
Okay! I think I did everything? I hope so. I’m still trying to get use to this class but overall, I feel this week was successful in regards to this class. I took the advice to start as soon as possible with the work and I am glad I did because I cannot imagine doing everything right now, especially as someone who is not super tech-savvy. I am proud of myself because all of this was out of my comfort zone. I created a website, chose a theme (still experimenting with), created a twitter, made a youtube video, uploaded audio onto soundcloud, and posted pictures through flickr all under the “About Me” tab on my website. I had never used soundcloud but it was actually really easy because I recorded on voice memos on my phone and was able to upload pretty easily. I created a new twitter account specifically for this class because I forgot I had one from highschool and I didn’t want to keep it. The youtube video I recorded was probably the hardest part because I got nervous when filming so I messed up a few times with my words so there ended up being many redos. I said “um” a lot and there were some dead parts, so I tried to use iMovie to make it flow better, but I was not successful as I could not figure out how to cut correctly. That was pretty frustrating. However, I believe that the only way to get better with editing is trial and error. It also was very challenging to change the size of my embedded material and I still cannot figure out how to make them smaller. I really enjoyed the creative side of the assignments. I am starting to get the hint that this class seems open ended, in terms of not being one way to do things. I appreciate the fact that I can explore different ways I want my website to look, and different ways to display myself through multiple media platforms. As I am finishing typing this, I am optimistic that this class is going to be enjoyable and I am excited to see what else I am able to do.
